The Bow Vows Official Doggie "Puptials"

This is Some of the Fun I've Had...

We like to do behind-the-scenes charity work and one of our favorites is our local SPCA. We both adopted SPCA dogs (many years ago), and they BOTH lived happy and long lives with us. Mark's dog (Cutie) lived until 21 years old and mine (Peaches) lived to 14, however, Peaches got sick 6 months after Cutie died and I think Peaches missed her "sister". So we support the SPCA in a lot of their fundraising efforts.

A couple of years ago, our friend was planning the "Great Mutt and Rescued Dog Show"; they needed some ideas for fundraising at the show. So we came up with an idea of having doggie weddings, and I developed the "Puptials" and a set of "Bow Vows".

Once they were joined together, they got a signed certificate!

I was there as photographer, and Mark, by virtue of owning his own boat we called him "Captain", officiated in the Puptials. The SPCA purchased doggie wedding outfits, and believe it or not, it was quite successful.

It was quite fun and most importantly it raised money for the SPCA. I printed the "certificates" and people paid $10 or $20 to have their dogs "married". The picture above is our friend's dog (Spirit, the "bride") marrying her friend Teddy. I couldn't tell you whether they're still together, but "Captain Mark" and I sure hope so!!!

Is this something that the Supreme court will need to weigh in on?

We did not perform any "same sex" puptials, so I don't think the courts need to get involved. And they ALL had their parents' consent...
